ST. ELIZABETH ANN SETON
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Parents & Parish Partner Together in Faith

Religious Education begins for children when they enter the first grade in school. However, we offer an optional Kindergarten Religious Education experience, too.

Registration for new students and class sign up for continuing families takes place in the Fall, usually after school begins. Notices are placed in the Church Bulletin and in the local newspapers.

All new students registering need to bring a baptismal certificate. However, if a child was baptized here at ST. ELIZABETH ANN SETON PARISH, this document is not needed.

If a student has attended Catholic School or another Religious Education program, a LETTER OF TRANSFER is also needed upon registration. A report card from the Catholic School suffices for the Letter of Transfer only if a sacrament was NOT received.

New registrations CANNOT BE ACCEPTED without the above two documents.

What is our parish Religious program like?

Classes meet in small groups in the homes of the Catechists from October through April. Levels 1 to 3 meet for one hour and Levels 4 to 6 meet for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Level 7 meets for 90 minutes.

Sacramental Preparation for Communion involves levels 1 and 2. Confirmation preparation begins in level 6 and is completed in level 7.

Out of sequence or older students needs are also met; as well as students with special learning needs.

In addition to the foundations of our Faith and the sacramental life of the Church, emphasis is also placed on service. Special events are scheduled throughout the year for each level.

Enrichment sessions for Parents focusing on sharing faith with their children and assisting with sacramental preparation are required.

With over 1100 young people enrolled, our needs for competent, caring and prayerful Catechists are great!! This year we have had 130 Catechists bring the Good News into the lives of our children. If you are interested in passing on the Faith to the younger members of this community, please know we would welcome your call. Find out what the requirements are by calling 737-8915. An interview to discuss this matter will be arranged. Don’t wait until next year, call now.

If you are new to our community, welcome and be sure to register as a parishioner. You will find our parish very welcoming and friendly. Hope to meet you soon.

Mrs. Michele Hahn,
Director of Religious Education
