ST. ELIZABETH ANN SETON
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
FAMILY FAITH FORMATION & RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

WELCOME! WELCOME!
If you are new to our community, we welcome you to the parish and invite you to register with us. You will find our community warm and friendly. We look forward to meeting you.

Religious Education formally begins in our parish when the children enter first grade in school. We also, however, offer an optional Kindergarten Religious Ed.experience.

Registration for new students takes place in the Spring, usually in May. Notices with the exact dates are placed in the Parish Bulletin and in the local newspapers.

All new student registrations require a baptismal certificate (unless the child was baptized here at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish). In addition, if a student has attended Catholic School and/or another parish's Religious Ed. program, we would require a LETTER OF TRANSFER from the school or parish. Please note that NEW REGISTRATIONS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT THE DOCUMENTS INDICATED ABOVE.

What is our program like? ....PARENTS & PARISH TOGETHER IN FAITH!
The majority of our classes meet in small groups in the homes of Catechists. We also, however, have a limited number of classes that meet here at the Parish. Levels 1 through 6 meet for one hour per week; Level 7 meets for 90 minutes per week ("Spirit Night" sessions). Classes generally run from September through April each year.

Preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion takes place in Levels 1 & 2. Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation occurs in Levels 6 and 7. Confirmation is generally scheduled for the Fall following completion of Level 7.
Within our program, we also provide appropriate placement for students who enter at an older age (having missed grade level sacramental preparation) as well as placement for students with special needs.

In addition to passing on the foundations of our Faith and the Sacramental life of our Church, an emphasis is also placed on SERVICE. Accordingly, students are scheduled to attend special events or experiences within the program each year.

Family participation at Sunday Mass, enrichment sessions for parents and our parent/child activities are primary elements of our Family Faith Formation/Religious Ed. program. Therefore, a commitment to these is required. It is our responsibility to assist YOU in the faith formation of your children. We take that responsibility seriously with our commitment to offering our best in the service of your family.

Finally, with over 1200 young people enrolled in our program, our need for competent, caring and faithful Catechists is great! If you might be interested in passing on our faith to the younger members of our Parish community, please know that we would fully welcome your generosity of time and spirit. If you have any questions with regard to becoming a Catechist, please call us at 737-8915. Don't wait!!...we'd be very happy to discuss with you the path to becoming a most welcome part of our Catechetical community. Please consider joining us.
